Default NASCAR lifters?

Can someone explain this article to me? I thought lifters needed an oil hole for lubrication. According to this they have a coating on them and thats it? No oil passages?..................WTF

Never mind....its a start up lube to take over until oil pressure and oil reaches the lifter......duh ...
