Nationwide Nascar Challenger Revealed
Dodge has revealed the new Nationwide car to run a limited schedule in 2010. Obviously not a showroom stock car but it at least resembles an actual Challenger, from the front at least.
http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/2010...e-series-car/# Definatly a step in the right direction compared to the COT. Sad to see Petty going Ford. |

Wont make any differance anyway, Prob wont be any "dodge" teams by next year, even in the miller lite adds, they have stoped saying "miller lite dodge" and are now saying "miller lite racecar" This has happened with in the last two weeks. But again, I could put a "dodge" sticker on the side of a john deere tractor, and it would be as much of a dodge as what they race now. And richard petty is a sell-out. I lost all respect for him when he put his name on the budweiser car, after years of saying he would never be assosiated with a alcohol sponser, due to his "family morals" Whatever.

Roger Penske saidd in victory lane after the race sunday that they were committed through 2010 to be a stand alone dodge team.
As for Richard Petty switching to ford , just look at his history (the 69 season ) so it doesnt surprise me. |

One thing I wonder is if a stand alone Dodge team will benefit from getting all the support from the Dodge folks. However, I also remember what happened when Sterling Marlin led the points, he got rulechanged and spoiler height bingoed right out of contention.
At this point, I wouldn't blame Chrysler and Ford if they bagged on Nascar and leave them to decide if they want to whore themselves out to Toyota or Chevrolet the most. It's not like these body shell go-karts they race now help sell any production vehicles. |

I think recently there was an announcement that either Dodge or Mopar is going to sponsor a small some what new team with Bobby Labonty as one of two drivers. I heard that on one of the many Nascar shows, but only once a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah there will only be one team next year and I think thats a four car team they may have now went to three cars. Penske will be the only backed team next year.
Take a look over a jayski.com they have a lot of news and rumors most of the time. I cant wait to see the challenger on the track did anyone see that Chevy wont race the camaro (SP wrong) and the new one looks aweful to me. The new mustang and challenger look great. |

What a Joke! It will fit right in with NASCAR. |

Challenger, Camaro, Mustang are all good looking cars IMO. They are 21 century versions of 1960's-70's vehicles. There's a lot more government involved in the manufacturer of new cars, and I think it's pretty cool that even with the government mandates all three companies are producing "pony cars" that are good looking and available with plenty of power. Sure, they're compromised, but the alternative would be none of these cars, at all.
btw, the handling of the new versions is light years better than the originals, too. |

Just watching the new cars in practice. The Challengers and Mustangs look pretty cool. The Camrys and Impalas not so much. . |

I gotta' say that 1st lap was pretty cool. Watching those 2 Challengers lead the pack around the high banks looked awesome. In all, 3 Penske cars were there. The 2 identically painted Discount Tire cars and Allgaier's black #12. . |

I think it is a step in the right direction for nascar, just need a little more of the real car. Wonder what ugly thing toyota could come up with if they did go to a factory body! I think if the bow tie guys antied up with a camero there would be even less love for toyota.

You won't ever see it again in NASCAR. But there are many divisions in SCCA, etc... that run nearly stock cars. Of course there is almost no media coverage, little or no prize money, and very few spectators.

A real stock car!
NASCAR, Detroit, and all of racing would be better off if they made a division like that! Win on sunday sell on monday. Oh but that would lead to chevys getting their asses beat like back in the day and all the GM people in NASCAR would just start the rule changing game all over so chevy coud compete.
