What if ChryCo had been allowed to build these ?
. What if ChryCo had built 'wing cars' in 1971 ? ..........The aero would have been awesome. Pam and Gary Beineke do build them now. Here's a cool story on their latest...... a 1971 Dodge Daytona done as the #71 K&K Insurance car. It's maiden voyage flew at Maxton recently to the tune of over 181 mph. They had to quit before they were done as a motorcycle oiled down the track. They're real sure they can beat the record of 205 in their category (AA/GCT) next time ! Those do look good with the extra wing and nose, even cleaner than the 70 models somewhat.

Someplace in my old ChryCo literature was some data on wind tunnel work performed on the stock '71 "B" bodies. It showed the '71 Plymouth and Dodge B's to have better aero characteristics than the '70 Superbird. I can only imagine what the '71's would have been like with the addition of a nose cone and wing. . |

Richard Petty sure is one of my favorites ! He was hard to beat back in the day.

They were allowed to race aero cars. But Nascar limited their engine displacements to the point they weren't competative and that was that.

That's when Nascar decided it was more profitable that instead of letting the best car win, they could jack the rule book then sell the results to the highest bidder.
