Zombies, Zombies, Everywhere

What is the attraction of zombie movies? My kids introduced me to two of them recently, Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland. It's not a genre that I thought I was attracted to but I found both these flicks to be quite entertaining. And both have some really funny parts in them, intentional and I gotta believe, unintentional. If you can filter out the gratuitous gore and the sometimes horrible language they're fun.
