Default Tuning help

Hello all,

Need a little tuning help on my 74 Duster. Just replaced the air intake manifold, and installed a 600 cfm edelbrock 1406 carb. Been trying to tune it to run good, but am having trouble. I have the idle dialed in at about 750 rpm, the mixture seems good, however there is a lag between the throttle and the engine output. then when foot is removed from pedal idle stays high and then slowly will come down, or I have to tap the throttle again to get the idle down, any suggestions?

The bog or lag you are feeling should be the accelerator pump or maybe your timing is a little lazy... the idle issue sounds to me like you need some more spring on your throttle return or the choke is acting weird?..

I'd check for leaks around the base of the carb and intake manifold

I gotta agree. Jump up the accelerator pump to give you more fuel. You might find your pedal is dragging on the floor mat too and/or a weak throttle spring issue. Dual springs are a must if you race.
