AMC 360 waterpump use sealer? Or gasket

87 Wagoneer 360 water pump/timing gasket.
Should I just use just the gasket or is it better to put thin layer of sealer on both sides of water pump and timing cover gasket?

I keep hearing both ways are best just wanna make sure it doesn’t leak lol
