I tried to post this once before, but I guess it did not take.
So, here we go again. After reading some of the great replies on my ' 500 on the cheap ', it was decided that i should do some more research first, namely better performance parts. I was surfing around, and came across Mancini Racing web page, and they listed the Eagle Stroker crank, at a very attractive price. It was only $800.00 U.S, and I say only because the MP unit is a few hundred over that. How long have these cranks been out on the market, has anyone bought one of these cranks as yet? With all of the excellant features on it, why would one pay more for the MP unit.? Lastly though, the benefit in welding a stocker is still cost, but what else. How about balancing either of the 3 cranks with a lightweight piston, and stock rod, or aftermarket rod. Is there a formula that you can use to see how much weight any of the 3 cranks are going to be? Thanks Bryan |

Mancini offers alot, But I was talking with an ebay seller who works alot with eagle and quoted me a price of $619.00 for the Eagle 4.15 crank made of 4340 steel.
Sounds good? |

Hi...I have one of these cranks sitting in front of me right now. IT is a very nicely made part, has radius fillets and everything. I considered having mine welded, and found the cost to be around 700 bucks + shipping. Mancini used to have it priced around 750( a few weeks ago), but i think the new stock came in and they raised prices. I bought mine from Nick at Compuflow. It will need balancing no matter what pistons/rods you run. I also got the Eagle H beam rods(whew, almost as much $$$ as the crank) and Ross Dome top pistons. I just Dropped it into the block, seems i need to notch the bores slightly to clear the bolts, and clear the Oil pickup area....thats it.(so far...
Bearings for these aint cheap...i think 85 bucks for rod bearings and mains are 50 or so... I think MP will lose much sales to Eagle( I wouldnt buy one). MAybe MP will wake up some day and provide us with what we need for normal prices. |

cdi, what bolt flange is the Eagle crank, 6 or 8? Maybe some day I'll have to upgrade to a 500', but really hate to need a different flywheel at $600.

Hi...yes, mine is 6 bolt flange...thats good, cause i just bought a SFI flexplate, so i can still use it... I dont really see the advantage to 8 bolt flanges, this thing aint going anywhere, and if it did, 2 more bolts wont make the diffrence. In flywheel applications it might be better, but flexplate, nah.
