i would have to agree with most folks on here that streetable is really what you consider streetable, and not what is streetable.
i had a 73 duster we rode around on the street at nights to hangout and cruise, i'd go through about....well lets say i fiqure about 5-6 mpg but never calculated it. now that car was pretty quick, (normally aspirated - no bottle) but was not the quickest street car around.
and let me tell you where I was from among the more respected street cars (and there were a lot) a "track verified" 10 sec. street car was average. there were several 9 sec. cars as well. now, not all of these cars were daily drivers, but i can tell you it was not uncommon to see them on the road at any hour of the day.
i can't tell you how many people come up and say "that's cool but what kind of gas mileage do you get" to which I/We respond "we really don't know and really don't care"
so with that said if I may throw out another term that may really bring this all together is "practical". i think what is streetable could be practical to some is not practical to others.
i am putting together a little street car so my wife (who really has no interest in cars) and daughters (who think its really cool - glad they think my way and not moms...lol) can bounce around the street with. i can assure you i won't pass too many gas stations but "to me" that really does not matter.
