You should be able to get an easy 425 out of that setup.

small cam, good exhaust flow. forged pistons, #1008 felpro head gaskets, arp head studs. high volume oil pump.
build it for the low end, becuase the big end is going to take care of itself. just make sure you have good exhaust flow. 3" after the turbos if at all possible. |

Gday Curious,my 318 block is in getting a full rebuild at the moment and i will be getting about 350hp(flywheel) by using edel rpm manifold,360 j heads,9.5/1 CR, medium cam, roller rockers,oh and i almost forgot a bit of stroking to the bottom end.
So twin turbos should be alot more than mine. |

Lasalles,
Just curious, what pistions are you using to get 9.5:1 with the 360 heads? How much are you cutting the heads? Keith |

Keith the heads havent been milled yet as the bottom end hasnt been assembled.360 pistons(Thats Right!!!!!) remember 318 blocks are very cheap so if it blows il do another one.
The HP guesstimate is going of a very similar setup the guys did with a mates 351 that had stock heads and bottom(cam selection manifold etc!!!). Will know alot more early next year. |

We used to have a '71 barracuda with a 318, it was bored to 4.00" and used 360 pistons and a 340 cam. It had a single turbo 'suck thru carb' set up, and the carb was the original 2 barrell. The car acted like a stocker with stock converter and tall gears, had good mileage and run 13's in th 1/4!

it just costs more to get the same power out of a 318 that you can get out of a 360

with that comp ratio you should be able to get big numbers from that motor. 350 hp would be no problem at all. youd probally have 450 before you knew it. good fuel flow is a must. if the car runs lean at all under boost youre all done.

Dewme5 im with you there,i only did the 318 as it was for my daily driver, until i changed my mind and had already bought the 318/727 combo. So now i can tell everyone im runnin a 318 which 350hp would be very respectable out of a 318...Ive also got a 360 block which im hanging to get one of those stroker cranks for.U Americans have all the good gear its not fair!!!!!

well i got good news and i got "good" news. the thing is i found a 383 for sale for $100. the problem is the turdbowl coupe turbos would be too small and i have to buy aftermarket turbos like feets.

Interestingly enough I have a 318 '86 roller cam motor (fury.) Thinking of twin turbos as well, read a post that said a pair of 2.2 Turbos would work good with a 318. My research into turbos indicates that unless you go with multiport EFI it isn't worth it.
The thing I can't figure out is how to put EFI on a carburated 318. |

alright.. with the ford turbos, they will work on your 383. you won't be able to turn 6000rpm with boost, or it will be real hot i'm sure.. but a 383 isn't that far from a 360. They will support about 300-350hp each. that's crank. so, with 2 you can get 700hp on a really good day, with higher psi. Getting 550-600 crank horsepower with an intercooler should be pretty simple to do, even on the 383. And talk about a Torque monster!!!! Yes, you can go custom, or you can have a shop take the t-03 and make a t-03/t-04 out of it down the road. you can build turbos. upgrade, change, and swap. it's just money... lol exactly why mine are out of a junkyard!
as for the fuel injection on a 318.. there are lots of ways.. holley projection (TBI still count's as fuel injection) there is also speed pro, electromotive, and others. you can have fuel bosses put into any manifold, and have a set of matching fuel rails made up. it's just a few dollars........ feets car is a 440 with a holley carb sitting right up top. it's not that hard to do. carb and turbo combos came from the factorys.. shouldn't be hard to do on your own. |

well destiny is pointing me towards the 318. i lost out on the 383. i am working on a mpfi setup that should be cheap but it wont be for sale for a while. set up should cost $1000 to do but any info posted is free this is a d-y-i set up that you could do on your own with access to a mill/lathe/drill. you can even make the ecu on your own. http://ramchargercentral.com/cgi-bin...num=1000941433
