Default Local guy with a '70 Coronet wagon

I noticed a descent looking '70 Coronet wagon for sale here locally (Knoxville TN)
Cool looking, but the guy was insane with his price. It was far from cherry (no major rust but dents and dings) and he wanted $6500 for it. It is that avacado green an had good chrome and trim. It looks COOOL, but the jerk has a surf board strapped to the top of it. Like there is a lot of surfing to do around here.
If you are interested I will get the phone number.
Oh, it is a 318 car.

Station wagons are coming back into style and I would love to have a clean one. But I wouldn't pay more than $2000 for a clean one.

Default 70 wagons

Hey Dr. Righteous! I did recieve some pictures from the guy with the one in your area. It had a surfboard strapped to it and was ggeen so it must be the same one. I thought he was kind of high with the price as well. How long has he been trying to sell it for 6500?My kids keep tellin me to get it but that's too expensive.Maybe if it was a factory pistol-grip with the 383 4bbl.

Biggrin Not long!

I have noticed the wagon several times. It is on Strawberry Plains Pike in east Knoxville. It is on the way to my girl friend's house so I see it all the time. I think it wasn't more than a couple weeks when I saw it with a yellow FOR SALE sign on it. I zoomed in to see if I could pick up a gem at a cheap price. (it is a station wagon after all)
$6500 in big letters. If the pictures he sent you didn't show you any details I could swing by with my digital camera and take some. In my mind for that price the thing would have to be absolutelly mint and showroom condition, which it is far from.
It is probablly worth $2000 at the most.
I also noticed a '71 or '72 Plymouth Fury wagon for sale in this area. Now it was in FAIR condition, with a little bit of rust but it looked to be in very good condition over all. The guy was asking a reasonable $1800, and it was a 318 car.

I've got a '70 Polara that is in "fair" condition, but no engine/tranny. The interior is poor and one of the rear doors has a huge dent but it's otherwise straight and rust free, if you don't mind a C-body.

I'm also into wagons and so are my buddies; between us we have a '70 Polara, 2 '69 Suburbans, a '55 Plaza 2-door, a '71 Ambassador (AMC) and a '72 Galaxie 500.

Default 70 wagon

Dr. Righteous, the pictures were pretty good that the guy sent.I think we can thank CarCraft and Hot Rod magazines for driving the prices up!

Biggrin Not to worry

There is NOBODY and I repeat NOBODY in this area that will pay anywhere close to what he is asking.
I bet most wouldn't even pay the $2000 which I think it is probably worth.

I didn,t realize it was so over priced! Maybe he thinks it's worth more because he has the american rims and surf board on it.

Wink Well............

IF you look at it out of the corner of your eye you suddenly to expect Peter Tork, Mike Nessmeth, Davey Jones, and Mickey Dolans of the MONKEES to come piling out of it!
It is funky looking!

HAve you seen the Duster in the guys yard just past the Knox/Jeff county line on 11E? its been sittin there about 6 years now. I am getting close to getting up the nerve to stop and ask if its for sale.
I just saw a 68 Satelite back off of Straw plains pike just the other day, sittin next to an old ramcharger. Seen that one?
I really want to stop and ask about it, but I hate rejection!Ha!

Yep you've just gotta love wagons, nothing better than having 4 friends along when you stomp on some little rice boy racer!

Here's my wagon, a 1970 VG Valiant Wagon. They only make them in Australia, but bascially they are an "A" body wagon. I had a 440 in it when I took this picture but now that's motors out and I've got a turbocharged HEMI six going into it.

Wagon are very cool but yep the prices are going up, luckily I picked this one up for $300 and it had only one spot of rust.

I have a 67 Monaco that I just got finished restoring. Its white with woodgrain and black interior, 383 2bbl, fact disc brakes. My grandfather bought it brand new. Interestingly, the car was built on Oct. 18, same day I was born. Ill try to post a pic some time.

Check out the "are Station Wagons coming back?" topic in the rumors and gossip forum. Wagons seem to take up quite a niche in the MoPar performance world ...

The latest issue of Hot Rod has an article on drag wagons through history, the main feature is on a '63(?) Dodge with a 383 long-ram wagon campaigned by a music store in the mid 60's.

Biggrin 1968 Dodge Monaco Wagon

I just picked up a cool 68 Monaco wagon.
It has been rear ended in its past, so I am looking for a new rear bumper and a tail gate.
If anyone has any ideas for me let me know.
Thanks
P.S. I am also looking for some trim parts for around the wood grain frt lft fender.
If anyone has any parts for this car let me know.
Thanks again.
