Valve Lift?????
I am wanting to know what the maximum amount of lift cam you can use with stock springs is.

When replacing the cam/lifters, ALWAYS replace springs. Match springs with what the manufacturer calls for. Lots of people try to skimp here, and funky things happen. I would also recommend replacing them every so often if you are doing a lot of strip action. Again, funky things happen if you don't.

It would be where the coil bind of the spring is, but you will usually run into valve float problems first because the spring pressure is too light for the larger cam.
I have ran the Mopar 282/0.484" lift cam in a 318 that had stock valve springs, but you could not rev past 5,000 RPM without valve float. |
