Default 360 advice.

I am building a 360 it will have mildly ported 2.02 J heads, shortblock will have hyperutectic pistons with a esimated 10:1 compression. The cam is the Mopar Performance mechanical cam 276/.490" with 1.6 rockers. It will be going into a full size 1/2 ton with a auto 2500 stall and 3.91 gears.

Question 1: Will this combo with the 10:1 compression be nitrous friendly? Say a 100 shot.

Question 2: I have a MP dual plane manifold and it looks like a aluminum stocker. What is a better manifold for my appication. Performer RPM? Single plane M1?

Any advice is appeciated. I am looking to upgrade from the 318 I built a few years back.

Cool

The 360 is great. If it doesn't detonate all on its own the nitrous shouldnt be a problem. For youre application I would suggest a dual plane manifold. But you know what I really think you should do?! Build a 408 to just over 500 hp, and then put a 150 horse shot on that, orrr save some pesos and install a Procharger on either a 360 or 408.

Thought about the 408 but htis is a budget rebuild. I had half the parts just lying around.

Just my 2 cents - since you are doing some porting on the heads and it sounds like you already have the pistons - I would open up the chambers somewhat to bring you compression down from 10:1 -- and make sure you pull some timing out of it when running the NOS just to be safe - should work great with dual plane intake though, and if you do not own one yet the MP1 is the way to go.

What pistons are you using? anyway advice I've gotten:

1. Retard ignition by 2 degrees for every 50HP of nitro on a hypereutectic piston
2. Use a wet system

As far as manifolds go you may want to look at the new performer rpm air gap whichI'm considering.

I already have the 4529116 manifold from mopar performance. I haven't bought the pistons yet but I can get a good deal on a set of Keith Black Silvoilite pistons. The compression is a little high but I don't mind running preimium for as little as I will drive it.

Dstallings: What is the MP1?

Suppose I could polish the combustion chambers to help reduce detontion.

Oh yeah it is the single plane. That will kill my bottom end to much IMO. To heavy of a truck. Unless someone has had a different experience.
