anyone know a lot about Nitrous?
i have a 440 not sure whats in the engine 73 RR with a 68 440 4 speed 4.10 8 3/4 say the engines been rebuilt runds good pretty much stock 1968 440 whats the most hp nitrous kit i should use i dont know if this engine has cast or forged pistons its been rebuilt but it was long long time ago how bad would it be for my engine to have this i was lookin at the 100 hp to 200 hp kits what do you think? my cars heavy 4,060 with me in it i dont wanna blow it up neither i might just not use nitrious just curious

150 HP shot is safe . Any thing more and you will be replaceing head gaskets. There is a kit produced by Compu car. I have had nothing but good service and dependablity from thier kit. It is easy to install and is resonably priced as well. Cast pistons will have no problems with a 150 shot. The age of the engine or amount of miles on it would be of no consern to me . Just remember 98.9% of all nitrous trouble is caused by one of 2 things. Either to large of a shot or not enough gasoline. Feed it well. Also you would do well to retard your ignition timeing 2degrees. |

I am kinda wondering hte same thing as him. but i know one thing, a dual stage Trans Am pulls the wheel twice up at our track, pretty cool huh.

tire spin
generaly a 150 shot is good for 1/2 to 1 full second in the 1/4.
but tire spin will have a very bad effect on et's with or without nos. Don't go to 0 timeing . You should only back it up 2 degrees from where it is now. As for when to use it. I perfer a micro switch on the carb linkage. When set corectly the nos only comes on at wide open throtle. A 750 should be fine for a stock cam or a mild street cam. One thing I would recomend is an elictric fule pump. For the 150 shot a holley red pump would do just fine. |

we threw in a stock '70 383 in al older b-body that was gutted. had MP284-484 cam, edelbrock torquer intake, and 750dp holley, headman headers, and stock heads. Turned mid13's without the bottle. turned high 11's with. Found good to short shift to second and hit the button.Had nitrus hooked up to switch on shifter for manual operation.Tires spun in first with bottle.

how come you didnt have the kit that works at WOT? is there any reason? was it a 70 RR were the seats in it? what size gear did it hurt the engine any? when you were shifting did you let of the cause then shift or power shift? do you have a rev limier? was it cast pistons? is the engine fine after nitrous?
i have a 73 RR i ran 13.70 spinning i plan to get this nirious kit and make the car lose weight cheater slicks take swaybar off too do you have to have msd ignition for nitrious or can you run it with stock? what fuel pump did you have ? thanks for the info i wanted to learn more about it before i get it |

Had the kit hooked up to engage when I wanted it to. If we hit it right off the line it would blow the tires off. So that's why shortshifting it to 2nd and hitting the bottle worked better.Car had a 727 with a shift kit, 3.55 gears in a 8 3/4, 29" tall tires, '68 satellite, gutted interior with 1 seat, no rev limiter at the time........cheapy race car. Motor was stock short block.... cast pistons, stock heads, etc. Motor ran for I believe 2 years until the new motor was ready. no msd at the time. Just electronic ignition with a blaster coil, and a carter electric pump. Nothing special.
