Default Is this Mopar power worthy?

Hey All.
Not painted yet, but check out my pics. Let me know if you think it deserves a big ole 440 in it. Sign my guestbook. Rod

heh i wanted to do a big block pacer awhile ago, but i couldn't find a suitable shell. I saw an article in Hotrod magazine awhile ago, about stuffing a 401 in a gremlin, it was pretty slick.

But yes. you definatly are mad...

401 works. A 440 can work, how about a 572 Hemi?
But I like your thinking!

I get points for thinking [it hurts],and bonus points for original thinking. I'm old. You, on the other hand, only get points for original thinking!

but a 426hemi would be sweet!!! how often you see a bigblock him gremi? not very... plus, that'd be a scootin sled with a big block... and IMHO you can get more power out of a big block a lot cheaper simply due to displacement...

Are you handy at fabrication? You can stuff just about any engine into anything, but it takes some talent, tools and patience. Back in my youth (WAY back!) if we wanted to go faster we went to the junk yard and bought some big ol' V8 and stuffed it into whatever car we had. I put a small block Chevy into a '63 MGB (complete with stock wire wheels and knock-off hubs) which was fun. I also got started on a Max Wedge 426 powered Henry J but never got it finished. A 'Roid in a Gremlin WOULD be cool, but only if you're up to the task.

That Gremlin X comment got me remembering back to my auto shop days at HBHS. I think we had one on the lift for about 3 months, no interest. I remember looking at the emmisions sticker and seeing 401 CI or 6.7L or something like that. I could not believe that large displacement was in that small car.

Ever since I went to the final in an all mopar race against a Gremlin called the "Nasty Nash", I thought these were pretty cool. That car ran 10.30's on the motor, and mid 9's on the bottle. It was painted "Ranger Bass Boat" metalic black and was one mean mother.

This car also made me think of one of the coolest names for a Gremlin EVER. When you name your car this, but sure to give me the credit..... the "GREM Reaper". Wouldn't that be cool?

The Gremlin X I have was originaly a 5.0 liter car 304. My Dad swapped the 401 into it, I even have a new Edelbrock cam, lifters and intake to go with it. Black interior w/buckets, dual exhaust, I even have a Hornet bulge hood for it.

Dude, if you shoehorn a Hemi into the little bastard, you could name it "Grhemlin", or "The Grhemi."

I had a 354 Hemi for my car. I was calling myself Hemmigremmie, but after much dismay, I sold it. It woulda been real front heavy. I even had a Caddy 500 which is the same weight as a sbc, but I just got a new home and some parts had to go. That woulda been a wild ride.
How much are ya asking for the Gremlin X? GMM

Not real sure how, but I bought the Caddy hi po book and was on www.500cid.com and chated on there forum. With an aftermarket intake and headers, a Caddy 500 weighs like 25lbs more than a sbc. Make tons of tourque also. The 70 Caddy 500 had 425 horses at like 4800 rpm's and over 500ft lbs of tourque!
It was a wild motor. I think the material the block was made of and the huge cylinder bores played a part. GMM

I agree with B-1 Ken a w2 360 would be better balanced and more room to work with,i have a 77 gremlin and it has a good deal of engine space, but i would not want to stuff a big block mopar,as wide as they are under the hood, waynebo
