750 demon for the 440, fit??
I've decided to get a 750 speed demon for my 440. I'm not sure if I want go with the vaccum sec. or mech. I have a 4 speed with 391 in the rear. Cam is an older version comp 502 lift, don't know the duration as it came already in the engine. I have a edel torker 440 intake and was wondering if this carb will bolt up to it without adapting? Will I have to order this carb specifically for mopar? Thanks for any info.

Try and find duration. Demons are calibrated by duration as well as CFM. Will bolt right up, no adapters needed.

From a performance standpoint, the Mech. secondarys is what you want. The vaccum secondarys hit softer, but should provided a little more mileage. This is not to say the vaccum won't let the animal out. The Demon is a bolt on, adapter linkage is a 2 bolt on process. Vist Don @ his site for the bracket and carb. He is VERY good. http://4secondsflat.com/ |

Good stuff. I ordered the mech secondary carb today. Pishta, as for the duration, how would I get that without the specs, not having bought the cam myself. Rumblefish, I would have prefered to get the carb from Don but got a way better price here. I'll try to get the specs and call him. Thanks for the replies.

degree wheel and a dial indicator, measure the crank degrees between .050 readings off the dial indicator, or how many degrees the valve is open past .050 lift. Mount the dial indicator above the pushrod on top of the rocker. There are a few ways to do it, but that is the basics. Over 250 is considered when looking at a Demon from one to another.

750 is the right size demon for that motor.
Ordering a carb without cam specs may yield poor results. Demons are calibrated by duration @ 50. If you have more that 240 @ 50 (which a cam with 502 lift may have, it will be close) and you bought a speed demon, then you bought the wrong carb. A mighty Demon is used from 240 to 260. Did that "great deal" include A guy going through the carb before it was shipped to you, with the baseline adjustments made, and a jet recommendation? Don's did. Don is also the only supplier in the world for a Demon to mopar throttle linkage adapter. Summit won't tell you that. My .02 |
