a stock block will take 600hp, plu sif its boosted its easier on it.
The resto blocks are stronger than stock but not as good as the r3 blocks. Just some enhacments here and there. To run 11's on a turbo engien would be very easy. 318 heads on a stock 360. Call the superchargerstore.com he is very freindly and will help you with anything you have or plan on doing. i want to run 8's not 9's on methonal and i would need 900hp to get there, my engine calculator says 1000hp to hit 8.70's i think its off tho' Steve |

resto strong
Just some trial B.S. here but the resto 340 block is a renumbered R3 block.
R3 PART # P4876794ab superseded to P5007552, 340 resto block, it is the least expensive way to buy a R3 block. |

Just send out your stuff to 73Scamp318, and his dad, they know everything. I dont know why he even bothered posting this question on here, he already knows it all. Fact is he asked us for our comments, and when we gave him or input, he became a "defensive know it all" ........... Im mean really why did you post the question here, then just get definsive when we give you our opinion? I mean belive it our not a few of us have been turning wrenches, and busting out knuckles longer than you been around. Seems you should just go out and build your 900/600 horse engine with all stock parts. |

which block
steve,
R3 PART # P4876794ab superseded to P5007552, 340 resto block, it is the least expensive way to buy a R3 block The P5007552 resto block is not a siamese bore P4876794ab was the only R3 part close enough to a 340 block, so Mopar susperseded it to what is refered to as "resto". By looking at a new resto block you can tell it is an R3 buy all the extra iron in the block. What small block guys are used to is an open area where the dist.comes thru to the drive gear, but on a resto block it is filled and other sublte changes not, "Just some enhacments here and there" So is the area valley area it is all filled in and not as open as a stock piece. |

Just because you can't get a motor to 900hp shouldn't mean that you have to get mad, just becauase you have been doing it longer does not mean that your better. Im a chief videographer, i have been doing for 5 years, just because someone has been doing since the 70's does not make them better. They only know anolog and i know digital. Same here you only know anolog and i know digital, and anolog. Opinions are "Hi i have used a stock engine to this much hp and this happened, so i think that it can hold this much, not your goal is unrelaistic and your to young to do this and you can't do this your a kid, blah, blah. So why can't you brace the younger mopar crowd and stop trying to be some elitist? Your right up there with the poeple who buy cars for a profit. I can't stand them Steve |

Ok well I guess that clears that up, its pretty much an R3. Looking at mopar performance's website it says its rough bored 3.98 inches, now the 402 stroker engine they have is a solid 4 inch bore and they claim the resto block can go out to 4.080 which leaves me with plenty of extra cylinder wall if I build it into a 402 or 408 stroker. I was thinking of doing it as a 416 but the power gains from the extra few cubes would be negligable and be outweighed by the weakened thinner cylinder walls. There would be no problems with using a crank and rods for a 340 stroker and slapping 360 stroker pistons on top of that to achieve a 408 cubes or under sized motor right?

ive done this combo,w8 heads, single innovative 88mm turbo, spearco air to water,372ci,1000+ on pump gas.its not really that big of a challenge.turbo motor really comes down to the motor staying together, the horsepower is the easy part.ihmo

Well 15 k is on the high side but im not shooting for a 1000 hp motor... just a mere 550-600 hp motor. That should save a few bills. Who is Ryan by the way ? engine builder who posts here?

Well thanks for the offers but this engine project is probably at least a year away as of now. Right now I am busy with getting the drivetrain, suspension and brakes taken care of first. Im pretty much just doing homework on the whole engine issue, reading around about other peoples combos ect.

They are making LOTS of power from the LSx and even now the Gen3 hemi's.
