ok imagine you bought a 69 small block charger and your making a street/strip car what is you're engine choice? (remember you want this car to turn heads)

Nothing says wow like a Hemi. You can have all the big blocks there are but a Hemi is in it's own class. A max wedge is a kind of close second. I just got back from car show on Saturday and there was a 1965 Coronet original Hemi car there. There were lots of great Mopars some with big blocks all decked out, but the crowd was staying right around the Hemi car. That was untill a 1969 Road Runner hemi car showed up then they were split between the two. A hemi is just that cool.

is there anything that makes people catch their breath quite like a Hemi? i love my small blocks but one of these days,I'll build a Hemi powered vehicle. fuel injected and perhaps a little forced induction for good measure!! hey, just let me dream!

I dont care if it turns heads. It must be the fastest thing on the track and win prize money since that's what a race car is for. So the only choice is a Hemi.

I noticed you put blown 440 and 426 hemi, not blown hemi.
Ya a hemi would be cool but if I was to build someting that would turn heads. In my opinion it wold have to stand out. And to turn heads on the road only a blower will due, yes you could pop the hood and show off the Hemi, but no one would know what you have under the hood going down the road.
I like the unusual combos like a turbo six or even a v-10 in an older car.
But every one has their ideal set up. I think a twin turbo V-10 or the king, a blown Hemi would be tops.

I say the Hemi. It will always be just that cool, but you are right, you have to have the "ultimate budget"

My ultimate engine would be a low compression stroker with the hemi head conversion, MPFI, and twin turbos.

Don't know about ultimate, but my favorite would have to be the 426 Hemi, with the 440 Six Pack coming in a very close second!

I didn't vote on this one because I am partial to the older Hemi. Perhaps a blown 392 hemi?

I've had a little think about this and I'm not sure I'd actually want a HEMI. Yes they are good and have a known name but I'd feel bad driving it around. I'd rather have a 440 or 383 even a 360 and drive it everday without feeling like I'm thrashing a classic. If it's a crate HEMI sure, numbers matching.....someone else can trailer it or "drive" it.........

I chose the viper due to the fact that it would require some finess to get it all to work. I myself prefer somthin that requires you to think a little bit to make it work.. "outside the box kinda stuff"

I bought a Hemi 69 Charger with $10,000 of my inheritance money. I was 18 and bought many high performance cars, (brand-x included). My Charger was a rusty, primered, and dented daily driver, NOT a showcar. Hemi rules, Max Wedge comes in second, 440 6bbl finishes my top three ultimate motors.
