content New Charger - Poll

Big discussions lately on this new "Charger".

The overall car seems to be nice, good engine with decent style but with 4-Doors. Is it enough for you to call Charger?

Simple, would you buy one?

I would like to convince the future wife to buy one, but the price tag for the hemi is a little high. I would like to see what they do with it in the next couple years. First year models are always a little boring so they can improve them. Plus incentives wont be very good for the first year and Dealers will probably be getting over sticker for the Hemi models. I think we will wait and see. Probably be leasing and Grand cherokee for two years so well see after that.

Yip you make a good point. I was fully for it because I myself use to say, the body style will change like the past but can it change so much that it will lose 2-drs and beome the coupe/sports car it was? I hope so.

NZ, interesting poll. Right now, it is 1,1,1. 3 votes tied. I think I can guess which one is yours! Glad to see that you have calmed down a bit on this subject. You are more fun to play with when you aren't preoccupied with the Charger issue. So, how ARE the sheep down under? LOL!

LMAO!!! Yeah, sorry about that crap mate. I'm over it, I can only hold grudges for about 5 minutes LOL!!! There actually pretty good, warm weather soaking up the mild rain which makes for lush grass and when the sheep are happy they'll do anything.

As for the poll, yeah I'm guessing it will be 50/50. I didn't realise but the first charger they created was a 4-dr to, but! this one the doors were hidden really well, it looks a hell of a lot better IMO and was a real tease, then they change drastically to the recent concept which is where I think it annoys me most, hopes come up, hopes come down.

Check out this Charger, I like this one better. And you?

Just saw this.... had to throw in my $0.02 worth. Don't like it at all. It's ugly, it's a sedan, and it disgraces the name. Wouldn't buy it, no matter what name they hung on it. The fact that they chose 'Charger' for a vehicle not worthy of the name, in an attempt to generate sales from name recognition, just plain pi$$ed me off.

Well, only 17 votes so far in a couple of days. The yes votes have the lead by one vote, but the maybes could throw it either way. As hot as the threads were on this subject, it is surprising to see that not many votes have been cast, and that it is so close with those that were.

It's 8 votes to 6 in favor of NO. Read the last option.

Your quite right I would of thought this would be a hot voter, we'll see maybe it will take off...........

You're right, NZ, now that I look at it. In a way, that isn't an equal poll. The maybes are on-the-fence OK, but you have 2 no columns and only 1 yes. Do I detect some bias here? LOL!

NZ, this poll, for you, must be like taking your Chally to the strip figuring you've got a lock on 13s, and actually turning 17s.

And who, sir, said you were qualified to determine the manufacturing costs of an automotive engine? Sorry to seem abrupt, but that statement of yours was totally off the wall. In your mind, the latest, greatest, most sought after engine in 40 years should sell for less because you think it is easier to build? Did you ever hear of a term called Value Added?

sorry Dick but I dont think it cost less to build that is quote from various sources including chrysler. In the old days the reason the hemi cost more when ordered in a vehicle is because it cost more to build As you know! where does the term" value added" come into this?its more like we will screw you because we hold the patent on the hemi name and will capitalize on it(sung to the tune of we will rock you, of course). theres nothing wrong with capitalizing on the name or anything else but why charge more for something that cost less to manufacture than another similar product.because they can and people will pay because of a legend. oh what this is a poll.sorry lost my senses there for a bit.still P.O.ed what happened to my car Co.after the infiltration uh, takeover.regards

I agree the Hemi should not cost anymore than anyother hi-perfromance motor..like a 5.0 or LS1...plus they are hand made by peasants in Mexico..lol

I'd buy one. I kinda like it. Yeah, I'd like it better with only 2 doors, but 4 doors are fine with me, too.

I guess that will depend on which Hemi you're talking about, either the 5.7 liter or the 6.1 that is going to be in the SRT-8.
Standard motor is a V6, so I expect the Hemis, as well as whatever required options that come with the package, will drive prices up.
I'd prefer a stripper base model car with the largest engine myself, but I expect that would be hard to acquire, unless you have good factory connections!!

Saw it in person today, doesn't look bad, but it's just not a Charger, should have been called a Magnum sedan. I'd think about it, but would probably buy a Magnum wagon if I had the money, Hemi or not.

It may be a 4 door, and it may not be the same as the old Chargers, but it is a nice car. I would much rather have the Charger than any GM or Ford product, and I would rather ride a bike than drive any Honda or Mazda. Plus, with the 425hp Hemi, its gonna be able to smoke any stock Mustangs or GTOs. I have driven the Magnum R/T, and it is fast with the 345hp Hemi, I can imagine what the Charger SRT8 will be like.

Thumbs up I've said it before

And I'll say it again. Nothing makes a competitor more angry than getting beaten by a four door! I love it, but I'd also like to see a new Challenger with the same 6.1 power. I doubt it could be made in large enough quantity to meet demand. All brought to us by the only car company of the big three which is making money on industry leading designs and features.

I said this before, but I'll put it here, too. I'm sure the musclecar purists said that same thing back in '83 when the 2.2 Charger debuted. "Real Chargers have V-8s. Real Chargers are RWD. Real Chargers don't need turbos." That sort of thing. I don't like the fact that the new car is a four door, but if it has to be a four door, I prefer the old concept car. Since that's not the case, I say wait and see. I have a sneaking suspicion that Chrysler has received enough hate mail to make them ponder a two door version. And who knows? Maybe the existing car will prove some of us wrong and they won't worry about the extra two doors.

I don't like it. its just another product that chrysler is trying to shove down our throats instead of building what they should be building, A 2 door coupe. for example, the rumble bee and daytona trucks. not very many people want a truck with a wing, kinda defeats the purpose of a truck. i just wish chrysler would get their balls back from the germans and produce cars that will sell.

just remember back in the 66 + 67 copmared to 68-70, the engine options are for the most part the same but the 68-70 charger had the look to go with the power which increased sales and desirability.

I'm sorry, i'm a die hard chrysler person, but i'm glad to see gm and ford still have the balls to make a 2 wheel drive v8 that is a 2 door.

im surprised as the the amount of people who would buy that "charger". if they would have followed the same kind of design cues like how ferd did, with the mustang, then yeah, i would. but as it stands right now, a definate no.
