4.7-5.9-5.7 Hemi bellhousing question
Do all of these engines share the same bellhousing to block bolt pattern or are they different?
Greg |
I have read that the 4.7 and the 5.7 hemi have the same pattern which differs from the 5.9/5.2
|
I keep seeing conflicting info on this topic. Some say they are not the same and some say they are. In the pics I've seen of the back of the Hemi block, they sure look similar to the 5.9 LA blocks.

I don't mean to add more confusion to this topic, but what about the NV-3500? Same tranny found behind the 5.2 and 4.7. Are there different versions with different bellhousings? If not then I guess the 5.2/5.9 and 4.7/5.7 share the same bellhousing.

I meant to say that maybe the NV3500's behind the 5.2 and 4.7 have the same bellhousing.

Well, now I'm getting some answers. Mark Campbell at Street and Performance that sells new Hemi longblocks says the 5.2/ 5.9 and Hemi have the SAME bellhousing bolt pattern. Jeff at Jeff's 4X4 says the same thing. So, I guess it does.

Hemi Longblock? Do you know how much? Where can i get some info for it?

This place:
http://www.hotrodlane.cc/ Wouldn't you know it. I called the place today to verify the info about the bellhousing bolt pattern. NOW another guy that works there says they DON'T have the same pattern. I give up.... Greg |
THE ANSWER!
In a fit of frustration, I took a 3.9L V6 bellhousing with me to my favorite local boneyard and Lo and Behold! A 4.7 was laying there in the mud! So... popping it up to the block revealed "The Answer". Yes, it does fit... mostly...! One bolt hole in the 3 o'clock positon doesn't line up but all of the rest of them do. I suppose if you wanted to be a stickler about it, you could modify your bell. But, I'm satisfied. I cant vouch for the starter fitting in it's proper position though. There wasn't a starter laying around.. but it looked OK from eyeballing it. So... since the 4.7 and 5.7 have the same bolt pattern, there ya go!

Hey Greg, Do you know if the 11" v8 clutch/flywheel fits with the v6 bellhousing? Is the bellhousing you have from a AX trans?
|
Hey RR, I didn't have anything more than a V6 bellhousing. I can't guanatee any more than that!
Greg |
And yes, it was from an AX trans.
