340-318 crankshaft serial numbers?

Hello,
Anyone have the correct serial #s for 318 340 forged cranks? I am going to a swap meet this weekwnd and I need a crank!

Thanks

I'll assume you want the casting or forging numbers since cranks don't have serial numbers. Here are the small block numbers:

62-67 318 and 64-67 273 forged 2128278, 2128869, 2205700

68-69 273 cast 2658268, 2658393

67-73 318 cast 2658278, 2658393

74-86 318 cast 2658278, 2658393, 3462387
2658391

68-72 340 forged 2532457, 2843868

73 340 cast 3462387

71-86 360 cast 3418640, 3418641, 3418642

Thanks John, I thought some early 318s had a forged crank too?

The '62-'67 forged 318 crank has the same forging number as the '64-'67 273, the difference is in the way the rear crank flange is machined.

What is 2668393?

FWIW , A friend just got a steel crank from Auto Zone for $185.00 + $85.00 core charge . It looked pretty decent , was ground and polished .010 and was dead on at .002 clearance. forging # showed it to be a 273 crank but you could gert lucky and get a 340 crank . If you don't like what you get you can get a full refund.

It's probably 26(5)8393, lot's of digits tend to look the same in mass produced cast/forged parts.
