Magnum 500 Wheels
I have a friend restoring an AMC Javlin. It has magnum 500 wheels,w/ the center caps missing. Are they the same as the mopar wheels?(the caps) and can new ones be purchased anywhere? thanks.

The caps are probably the same but use a different sticker for the center of the cap. I think the Paddock sells reproduction parts for AMC's.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have web address for them?(the paddock) -Thanks

Yes, all of the manufacturers offered the Magnum 500s as original equipment and only used a different center cap. Chryslers used a bullseye cap, Rustangs used a prancing pony, I'm not sure what Degenerate Motors used, but AMC used one that said American Motors Corporation. I bought my '50 Coronet about six years ago and it had 14" AMC Magnum 500s on it. Who the hell would have thought that late '60s AMC wheels would fit on an early Chrysler?

AMC bought parts from every one to build there cars .The AMC wheels came from Chrysler. Ford and Chebby wheels are not that same and look very different close up.
I owned one AMC. A '74 MAtador. 401 big block rated the same hp as the 440. It had a motorcraft 4 bbl not a holley either. HAd a ddual point dist. a 727, dana 60 with 4.11 and the exhaust were mopar too as well as the leaf springs. The tank was a gm unit, the front suspension was a mustang se tup. It used the coil spring between the A arm and fender mount. AMC cars were like this for years and that why the AMC wheels fit you mopar. :D |
I don't have their web address but you could try a search, and I think they advertize in the various car magazines. Shouldn't be too hard to locate.
