AM/FM Tuning Problem
 

I recently had to swop out my audio system in my Dodge Nitro (RES AM/FM/MP3/DVD Player) because of discs that got stuck. The dealer replaced it with an identical new unit. With this new unit I have difficulty tuning into specific FM stations (which was not the case with the previous unit). The tuner changes stations in increments of two (94.5 - 94.7 - 94.9) and only in uneven numbers (5,7,9). For that reason I can not tune into a station like 94.8 (ending on an even number).

Is there maybe some settings I should change in order for me to change stations in single digit increments? :shrug: :help:

Check the owner's manual or take it back to the dealer.

But, I believe all FM frequencys are odd numbered in the last digit. The frequency of an even number would bleed over and interfere with an adjacent odd number station. AM frequencys are even numbered.

Have you programmed your scan list (based on preset buttons)?

Yep, like Dick said, I'd just use the seek or scan feature and then lock the button on the station I wanted.

Every FM radio I've seen/owned in as long as I can remember ends in odd only since in the US FM all ends in odd numbers. There is no even numbered FM channels here. There are a few overseas, but not in the states.

I promise you that I have tried all above,
Here by us,in South Africa, FM stations does actually end on even numbers.
The vehicle is actually going back to the dealer this week to change out the unit.

Sounds like the replacement unit was not meant for your area.

Yep, wrong "spec" sound system. A late friend of my Dad made a second fortune importing Euro-spec Mercedes-Benz's and leasing them. But their Gundig, Blauplunkt, and Alpine radios all had to be replaced, which in most cases was quite a shame, as they were top-quality sound systems which really weren't replaceable at any price. Nobody offers a DAT, cassette and CD changer in the US.
