Default Gas gauge

Our gas gauge in our 2001 limited doesn't go all the way to the top when you fill the tank anymore. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Most likely sulfur buildup on the sending unit electronics. Typically high altitude fuel has a lot of extra crap in it. We have a lot of problems such as these in Albuquerque (6000 ft).

Try using some BG 44k at a few fuel ups. Sometimes that gets rid of the crud, but you have to be sure to fill up.

The only other thing that I would suggest is to fill the tank when you get gas all the time.

The one thing that I can't stand about ours (which is also a 2001 Limited 5speed) is that the fuel warning light comes on at 1/4 tank. I have had it well down in the bottom of the red before, though I have never run it out of gas because I don't want to damage the fuel pump.

I'm guessing that the only way to calibrate the warning light down lower is to adjust something on the float, which would require removing the tank.
