Default Slant Six To 318

Slant Six To 318 Help Needed

I have an 84 Ram short bed that now has a Slant Six in it, four speed stick.
I have been wanting to swap the Slant Six for a 318 that is now in an 87 Ram. The 318 is a rebuild and the 87 Ram is just too rusty to let that 318 waste. I want to put the 318 into my D100 and keep the 4 speed. I know that it is going to be a lot of work, but I have all winter for this project. (My 84 Ram does not get out during the winter; Illinois dumps tons of salt on the roads.)

I an thinking at the least that I will have to change motor mounts, maybe a different tranny, throttle cable, fuel lines, radiator, length of driveshaft?, plus a mess of wiring to deal with.

It is my plans to keep the Slant Six and rebuild it, just in case I want to put the 84 Ram back to all origional. No way could I part with my old trusty / 6.

All you need is a V8 bellhousing and that's it. You already have the engine mounts fron the other truck, the wiring does not change, and should be loing enough to do the swap as well. The rad is big enough for a stock 318, but oyu have the one from the other truck so you don't need one. Nothing else changes at all. Real easy quick swap. All you will need to do is take it to a muffler shop and have them hand 2 1/4 pipe with an X pipe and some decent mufflers on it.

Thanks for the information. I really didn't think it would be too hard to do, but from what I have been told, I was expecting the worst!
