01 Ram Front U-Joint?
I have a 01 Ram 4x4 and the front passenger side axle u-joint went ( right where the shaft goes into the tire) and I was wondering how to remove the axle. I know I have to take the wheel, brakes, and rotor off, but then does the axle slid straight out, or is it connected with c clips on the axle? Any help with be great. Thanks.

I don't
Think you want to try this without a factory service manual. The axle disconnect in there can be tricky to a first timer. Besides, you'll have what you need for any future problem. They are invaluable.

No C-Clips. Take the wheel, brakes, rotor, wheel bearing out, and the axle will slide right out.
Tip: leave nut on the axle till you get the bearing out. I've had bearings come appart when hammering on the hub flange. Leaving the nut on will keep this from happening. |

You don't have to remove the bearing from the axle once it is out. Just change the u joint and reinstall the axle and bearing as one unit.
