Well, third times a charm, the track wasn't rained out finally. In all, this was a good and bad night out.

With a couple extra mods, I actually ran a little slower than last year. I just attribute that to it bein July now and the last time I ran it was in October (even if it's not true I feel better about it). My best run today was a 16.946 @ 80.854. I hate this elevation.

As far as the JET stage II, when I took it out, the trap speed was almost identical (it was .190 quicker without the jet). However, I was a tenth slower without the jet so I guess it helps alittle bit.

My first three runs my trap speeds were consistently 80 mph at 4090 lbs (not including me, I had the truck weighed today). For my last run, I removed the air cleaner and the tailgate (which was still on for the weight). My e.t. was still a 16.9 but my trap speed was just shy of 82.

One last thing, I started out sayin I was slower than last year. My main mod since then was the Jacobs ignition. I know this thing works because last year, I had absolutely no traction problems at all. Tonight, I couldn't hook up at all, thus my 60 foot times were horrible. If I had hooked up, I know I would have had better e.t.'s.

Sorry for makin this so long, I just needed to make sure I get as many details as possible.

Just remembered, octane booster didn't make any difference at all.

I've checked out RM's site, it has alot of good info. the racin aspect has never really been a problem though. I get excellent reaction times and there's nothin I can really do about the traction. I've tried launching it differently everytime and it didn't help. My tires suck though, thats one of my worst problems.

In about 3 weeks I plan on goin to the track in Dallas and in Lapeer (north of detroit). I'll have some more info then, including the truth behind elevation. The only thing that makes me feel any better about 16.9's is that that's still faster than what the stock mustang gt's were runnin last night.

Get some Mickey Thompson Sportsman pro's. I launch at 2000 and it sticks great. 2.00 60 ft. times without posi. Put in an Auburn Posi today and am hoping for at least 1.90's.

I definitely plan on gettin better tires. By the way, my 60 foot times averaged 2.66, ya I know, that sucks, and I do have posi. I launched all different ways, I launched from normal idle, and at around 1000 to 1400 rpm. I tried to launch from 2000 like alot of you have suggested, but my truck can't hold it there. I had the brake all the way to the floor and at about 1800 or so my wheels broke loose and the first amber had just lit up. I'm definitely gonna need a torque converter also.

1500RedRam, the way your boss told ya is probably the best way. Lookin at my timeslips, even with the wheelspin, the time I launched close to 2000 also happened to be my quickest 60 foot time of the night (and fastest e.t.).

Have you tried launching from an idle ans slowly putting your foot into it? With all the mods I have now, that is the best launch technique I have.

Just my .02

Good Luck!

Saw that you installed an Auburn Posi, how do you like it? Lockup good, noisy, good street manners? I've been looking into a posi unit and the Auburn has been suggested to me. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Cool

I just put it in today and have only tried a couple of launches. So far, I am very impressed. I was in a parking lot and without heating the tires, launched at 2000 RPM's and it stuck. Can't wait until I can get back to the track.

speedeamon,
As of right now, I'm goin on leave in a few weeks to detroit and I plan on goin to Ennis on the way. It'll be August 4 when I'll be there. I'd like to also see if there's anyone else close that can show up also. This isn't a definite thing right now because I have other things goin on which might allow me to permanently go back to detroit either earlier or later. I'll have the definite plans in a week or two, I'll let ya know for sure when I find out.
