Howdy All...
I'm looking for a way to lift my already lifted truck for a bit of extra room for 35's. I have installed a 3" kit and would like to avoid the expense of a complete changeover to a 5" kit. What problems will I encounter in installing a small (2"to 3") body lift in my 97 1500 CC? Are there any kits to buy (recommended) or any to avoid? Your help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks....Dan ------------------ 70 340 Dart 70 440/6V Cuda 97 1500 CC 4x4 360 Auto |

I was able to fit 35's on a 3" kit from Skyjacker but had to get custom 8 1/2 inch wheels to make them fit. Daystar has a 2" poly spacer for your front coil springs. The back can be upgraded by an add a leaf or a lift block depending on what set up you are running. Remember you may need longer break lines, a pitman arm and possibly track bar relocation pieces. You might be better off selling your kit and buying new though, because a lot of companies will not sell pieces of their kit. Good luck,,,,

Dan,
I just got back from the Bloomsburg, PA 4-Wheel Jamboree last night and while attending the show for the 13th year, I had a chance to talk to many fellow Ram owners. The body lift of choice for most was the Performance Accessories 3" kit. I think it goes for around $160 dollars depending who you get it from. This kit comes with a quality front bumper relocation brackets and instructions on how to remount your rear bumper or you can purchase another bracket from them or from http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/ (who's reps I had a chance to talk to also). It comes with a new steering knuckle which one particular gentleman I was talking to said he found (you may think otherwise) it wasn't needed. You will have to weld in a "section" for you auto transmission linkage from what I gather but not sure about the transfer case lever. Hope this is of some help! from what i hear, 2 inch is the easiest. 3 inch is a lot more headache even though it's just one more inch. i considered the daystar spacers, but after talking to the guys at sibling rivalry (they have quite a bit of experience with heavily modified rams) they advised against it for a truck that's going to be used at all unless proper suspension geometry was restored.

Rufus,
As with Sibling Rivalry, it can be done. Check out this Ram with 40's. http://www.mopartrucks.com/Ram/pages/Keoni97Ram.html Look at his site and see a couple others with 38's plus also. Highboy90 (Curtis) |

Do you use your truck like a truck,,ie haul stuff in the back? A body lift changes it's carrying capacity due to its new balance. Heavy loads can roll the body off of the spacers so be careful.
