Hey nice job, is that box under your back seat or is it in place of your back seat? I put in a steath box in place of my middle seat the back rest bolts right on and you would never know it was a box there, hold 1 12" but I was told you could get it with 2 10" and you still have space under your back seat.

Howdy,

Well this is nice to see. I just got my new truck and want to put my Kenwood CD/AM/FM stereo in place of my Chrysler unit. What parts of the dash do I need to remove, how do I do it, and how do I remove the radio unit? I've taken apart dashes before but instead of guessing I thought I'd ask. Please help if you can. Thanks.

ram100 - it's real easy to do. Pull the dash right off(dark gray that surrounds all your instrument panel/radio/etc), gently, it's got them metal brackets that snap into place. Easiest place to start pulling that i have found is int he lower right of the piece below the passenger air bag shutoff. If you're gonna put a 1 din head unit in (like the kenwood) you'll need an install kit. They go for $11.95 shipped from crutchfield. You should also get a wiring harness, 7 bucks from crutchfield. The good thing about buying from crutchfield is they send you some real good documentation on how to remove panels etc. from your vehicle. Anyhow, once you get the dash off, two bolts and you're done!

dubge - I raised my back seat about 2 1/2 inches to fit the box I built under it. Not too much trouble to do. I also made a cutout so I could keep the jack in it's place. I can email you some of my diagrams for my box. Below is a pic of the rear after i finished tonight.
Update, since this morning I have added int he 5 1/4 MB Quart coax's to the rear!
Other amp and cap should be in tomorrow!

So the dash cover just pops off. No screws? That sounds easy enough. Thanks.

Hey Jared, nice job. Hows the system sounding? Need help tuning your system? Let me know. This summer is when I redoing my audio system. 4-10" MA's, 4-6x9" MA's, 2-6 1/2 3or4way MA's, and a 6-1/2"Component set. All MA Audio. All Fosgate punch amps, might take out back seat for more room for subs. New Sony Head unit. I will have to send you pics of the new sub. I have it all drawn on wood. Those plates worked out for you in the doors? Good mid-bass? Where you got the carpet from? Was it a pain to do?

ram100- yup, it's real easy tog et the dash off. The door panels are a bit of a pain, they have those plastic screws. It would have been nice to have a panel puller for that, but just tug hard and they come off. The rear panels in the extended cab are just like the dash (metal connections) you just pull them right off. T-47 torx bit is used for the bolts that keep the seat belts locked in (I only had a T-45 bit, which was a bit small so I had a little slipping).

Hi Brandon, it sounds real good, just looking forward to getting the other amp so I can run all the speakers. The plates worked out pretty good. The mid bass is decent, though I have spent minimal time tuning. I put in some XTC speaker baffles behind the components (7 bucks) to keep the water off, if any gets in the door. I am thinking about getting new brackets made for the seat lift, I'd like to have at least another 1/2" of room between the seat and the box. We'll see. I'll post some more pics when I finally finish (amp and cap). Oh yeah, I bought the carpeting from Lowe's! $.27 a sqaure foot! Couldn't go wrong there. Glued it down with 3M Super 90 spray adhesive (2 cans). Just have some real sharp razor blades to cut the carpet. I'm looking forward to seeing your install! good luck.
