Question

I noticed that my drivers side front speaker seems off . . . sounds "muted" -

I have the stock stereo (for now) AM/FM Cass - w/4 speakers (quad cab). The one that doesn't seem to be working right is the small one in the front. I can listen to each speaker separately, and this one definately has problems.

Any ideas ?

I have the same problem. My front driver's side speaker in the door sounds bad. Sometimes it sounds ok. Maybe it is in the stereo itself? I don't know. I am looking for a stereo cd player to replace the stock cassette player. Maybe this will clear it up. If not I will know it is the speaker.

I had the same problem on mine. It was the front passenger speaker. I had it replaced under warranty. The tech said he has seen alot of front speakers blowing out. Must be something with the radio or wiring. Works fine know.

Default speaker

I had the same problem in my '97 Dakota and my '99 Ram. Both times, the speaker wire came loose. The dealer went through the trouble of replacing the speaker and head unit but was the speaker wire itself that either chaffed or came loose.

Thumbs down I had the same problem............

My 99 Quad cab left front door speaker doesn't work and I had the stereo shop that services our dealership take a look at it and they said my speaker "amp" was blown out. They said I have the "premium" sound system and the speakers all have their own amps so you can't replace them with just any speaker, you have to buy a factory "premium sound" speaker. I ordered one from dodge but I'm noy sure if it's the right one. The slots in the door panel that let the sound out are in a round shape, about 6 1/2 or so around. The speaker they gave me (and it was expensive as speakers go!) looks more like a 6x9!! Is this the way it is supposed to be? Any help would be great!

if your looking for a new cd player to replace the stock deck..i reccommend pioneers din and a half..it fits that oversized opening and with the wire adaptor it will take maybe 30 mins for install.

as for the speakers themselves 6x9s are the way to go in the door if all you are doing is upgrading..currently im running a set of eclipse 6x9s and they ssound pretty good.

keep in mind that the 6x9s will push the panel out just a tad but its not very noticable.

hope this helps
