With all due respect, realizing this is the RAM forum, I need to get some advise from my fellow Mopar brothers. Please except my apologies. I’m facing a dilemma and am in desperate need to make a decision quickly and do appreciate your advice.

I have located a 70 barracuda cloned to a 70 cuda very close to completion of a complete restoration.

I’m partial to the 71 because of the front grill and the billboards. Would it be Mopar un-ethical to clone a 70 barracuda into a 71 Cuda by changing the front grille and adding billboards? Could anyone could really tell the difference just by looking at it? Would it lower the value of the car more than slightly?

Does anyone know what exactly the differences are between the 70 and the 71 cuda's other than the billboard option and the front grill

I know this opens a whole can of worms, but here goes:

if you are doing this because its what you have always wanted, I say go for it. I mean, it would be easy to change it back if you sold it to someone else who wanted it original.

Also, - for me - if thats going to help you enjoy the car that much more, I don't see a problem with it.

The only problem I personally have with clone kinda stuff is when someone trys to pass off one model for another.

For example, I posted in "RAMROD - here's something else to take up my time" (SORRY, I"LL SLAP MY HAND FOR POSTING NON RAM STUFF ON THE RAM BOARD) - but I am checking out this 69 RR - it has a 440 in it - I'm pretty sure the numbers don't match.

I would be upset paying one red cent for that car IF he was selling it as a RR and I found out it was some stripped down Belvedere with RR stickers and a 440 from some other car . . . see what I mean ?

But if he came right out and told me it was a Belvedere with a 440 transplant (and the price reflected that instead of a true RR) - at least I would know EXACTLY what I'm buying . . . get the picture ?
