Question MSD Blaster SS mounting?

Where did you guys mount your MSD Blaster SS coil?? I cant really think of any where to mount it. It doesnt fit the stock location unless you drill some holes. Got any pics of what you did?

Thanks,

Ng

I made this bracket out of 304SS, mig welded the side brace. You don't have to get this fancy though.

Biggrin Shoud be pretty easy, but then again...

...mine's mounted on my challenger - not my truck so I'm not sure what might be in the way.

Word of advice: Don't get a-hold of that spark unless you like pain. Looks sweet at night jumping 1 1/2" though! (I was showing it off to my dad one night and got too close - YEEEOOOWWWW!!! Thank God it was only one shot! My finger was numb feeling for a good 24 hours!! good stuff!)

I'll send you some pics when I get home from work. I mounted mine right where the stock coil was mounted.

I don't have any pics of what I did, but I mounted it in the stock location with a piece of metal. I just drilled two holes in the metal for the stock bolts, and used some washers as spacers. Then I drilled 3 more holes for the blaster ss. Seems to work pretty good.

Default Blaster SS mounting

Use a piece of aluminum plate.
Drill holes where Blaster holes are.
Drill holes in stock Coil bracket locations.
Mount to stock coil location with stock coil bolts.

Default Here's how I did mine

Bought a Simpson clip, p/n LPC4, from Lowes hardware store for less than a dollar and cut the tabs off to form an L-bracket. See attachment for picture of clip.

Then I drilled the holes, attached the bracket in the stock location with the stock screws, and the mounted the coil. See attached pic for finished product.

Similar to mine, but I wanted to keep the coil away from the heat so I went with the 90 degree bracket.

Smile Ok heres mine

Nothing fancy like you guys have done... but It's suffice. It cost me 1 dollar, only because I had to do it twice since I didnt measure the holes right the first time Anyways it was some cheap metal for .47 each.

Here are the pics of mine... I wanted to face it flat, so it could be easier access when i worked on it.

Thanks for all the help guys...I'll put the msd 6al on tommorow morning.

hey ng,

I mounted mine on the fender well, same side as my MSD. I have a ACCEL super coil mounted in the stock location (it bolts right on) I then made separate interchangeable harness assemblies using MSD weathertite connectors. In case one coil fails, I just switch harnesses and hook up the other coil in a minute. I guess i'm a little paranoid about having a coil failure huh? LOL

Thumbs up

I've had mine mounted on the Simpson clip for about 7 or 8 months. No problems.

Had mine in stock location on a metal bracket, but recently moved it to the fender next to the MSD box. Had a slight hesitation so I moved it to the fender thinking maybe the heat from the exhaust manifold was causing it. I still have a slight hesitation at medium rpm up hills.
