Question Windshield Wiper Motor

I am finding it impossible to locate a wiper switch for my 78.

I work in an electronics shop, so, I think I am going to build my own circuit. The circuit board I'll make will have a relay to interface with wiper motor, wiper delay, and all that stuff.

My question is how does the factory setup work? Is the speed of the wiper motor changed by a resistor network? Or, are there multiple windings in the motor itself that offer different speeds?

I guess I need to get off of my lazy butt and just buy a manual, with the schematics

If anyone could post the connections for the wiper motor, or a schematic for the wiper motor circuit, I would very much appreciate it!

Have you tried ebay??? Right now there is a wiper switch for a '72 - '77 on there. I know that it was used for amny others as well.

I did see that one, but was wondering if there is a difference between a 77 and 78.

What I could do is go to Autozone's website, and look up the part number for the wiper motor. If the same motor is used on the 77 and 78, then the switch should work, or could easily be made to work.

If they list it on the website, why not buy it form them??

Another option is to open up the one that you have and repair it. Normally they aren't that hard to repair.
