cruise control
I just test drove a '96 Ram 1500, and the only thing that didn't work was the cruise control. When I pushed the button to turn it on, the light did not come on, so the cruise itself is not turning on. I was wondering if you guys might have any ideas on why it might go out. Does it have its own fuse, or is this going to be more difficult to fix. I'm probably going to buy the truck, so any ideas before I dive in would be appreciated.

Your problem is probably in the clockspring, the wiring behind the steering wheel. The PCM monitors the speed control switch, when you turn on the system, the PCM turns on the light. It could also be a problem with the wiring to the clockspring or the switch itself.
