Best Mopar Motor Made

Ok what Mopar motor made do you think was and is the best. Also in what car and year.

I think one of the best is the 69 1/2 six pack cars. The Roadrunner and Superbee. Race ready off the lot and could give the Hemi a run for its money.

How about a definition of best.
The best in reliability, performance, or any other area that might be out there. Lets face it dodge owned the motor home market for as long as they wanted it. The 413 and 440 rb engines would perform and haul those heavy loads and in fact still are a lot of old motor homes out there today.

The hemis were fast but not many lasted more than 10,000 miles before they broke.

The 440 magnum and six pack engine were good, but the 340 six pack was a rocket too.

Lets face it mopars are great engines, i guess thats why we all know the truth and enjoy our cars so much.

I think the 340, 340-6 and 72 GSS 340 Supercharged engine are great motors. I think the 318 is also a good motor that is over looked a lot of the time. If I had a chance to buy a 340 car I would jump on it. IM restoring a 70 Coronet R/T that is a 1 of 1 car and would love to get it done then start looking for a 340 car. I would like to have a Dart swinger, Demon, Duster, Cuda, Challenger, Charger and a Roadrunner with a 340 in it. I looked at a 340 72 or 73 I think it was a 73 Cuda that was an original 340 car to buy about three years ago. The cuda looked good in pictures but was bad in person. The rockers were gone, qtrs, trunk floor, drivers pan and grill was all bad. The color was a green with a tan buckets. The asking price was 5000.00 way to much for it.

All of them!! They all have a purpose and use and they are all Mopar so what's not to like. I've won with just about every engine they made and in all kinds of cars over the years. No way to pick just one.

I think they all are good to. I would like to see what motors in what cars if you had a chance to chose you would. The Hemi is a great motor and any car would be great but lets face it you can go to any show and see a Hemi in every other car. If you had a chance to to go back and buy a car what would it be. I like the odd cars the ones that dont get in magazines as quick as a Hemi car would. My first choice would be a 71 Dodge Demon 340 4spd or a 71 Duster 340 4spd. I would also have to look hard at the 71 Charger, Roadrunner , Challenger and Cuda with a 340 in it. I would have a hard time with the color combo. I would like to have a chance to go back and get a 69 1/2 Superbee or 69 1/2 Roadrunner. I think I would chose the Roadrunner no wait the Bee oh why not buy them both I am dreaming right. If I am dont wake me IM coming up on a 1969 Boss 429 mustang in my 69 1/2 Roadrunner no wait the Bee. The light is green the boss gets me out of the whole only because I just gave my girlfriend a kiss for luck. IM pulling up to him slaming 4th now Im pulling away and its over. The guy pulls up to the next light gets out and shots his horse. Oh well off to the glue factory.

I own 5 Chargers now in the early '70's. Great car, but a little heavy/ Owned a 340 4spd pistol grip 3.55 geared purple '70 Challenger and many others. I guess if I had to chose I'd like to have a cross ram car. The ones with the carbs hanging over the fenders. Now that would get some attention at a show or cruise in.

Yeah a Max Wedge car would be great. I would love that and then to have a Honda pull up to me with the NOS decale and just leave him sitting like his car was a peddel car that he grew up with and still holding his baby bottle ( laughing).

I have only seen one in person that is a real Max Wedge car and its a plymouth. The guy drives all the time to shows here and in the summer time. There is also a guy here with an AAR Cuda that is very nice and I do think he is the original owner of that car. The prez of the Mopar Club has a 1968 Roadrunner with a Hemi bought it used in 1978 off a local car lot. He used to drive it everyday and its an original Hemi #'s matching car. This guy still drives it the way it was ment to be driven. He raced a Viper GTS and neither of them will tell who one. I would say the Hemi did but to get it out them you wont.

I think the best mopar motor is

The 225 slant six. Any engine that can survive my brother for 4 years with no oil change and constant beatings deserves respect

225 Slant six is a good motor it will take a lot of beating and keep going. My Dad bought a 70 Dodge Dart witht he 225 slant six in it. He raced a Roadrunner one night on the interstate coming back for Charlston West Virginia into Virgina. He said he couldnt pass the Roadrunner and the Roadrunner couldnt pass him. He said that was a great Motor in that car very strong and could hang with the big guns.

Toss up. 383 or a slant six. Best overall motors made by Ma Mopar. They were put into everything they had to offer.

The Dodge Dart GTS you could choose a 340 or 383 I think it was in 1969. The 340 would run all over the 383. The 340 motor breathed better then the 383 did in that car. I still wouldnt pass on a 383 GTS Dart but would take a 340 as my first choice. I would aslo like to have a Dodge Dart with a 440 or Hemi in it.

I was talking about cars with my uncle and in 1971 this guy had moved to the small town in West Virgina were my unle lived and the other guy was from CA and was going to high school with my uncle. The guys dad was in the Navy and there is a big Navy base there. My uncle said he had a 1968 Dodge Dart with a big hood scoop and painted strange is all my uncle could remember about it. We both think it was a Hemi car, well the guy one day was going home and took a turn to fast and went threw a house that was on a turn just outside town. The Dart was history. Then in 1973 my uncle bought a Vit C orange 70 Super Bee with burnt orange buckets and 383 3spd on the colume. He bought the car the day I was born. He was telling me about racing a 69 cammaro with a 396 that was built up, one of the rich kids in town had. My uncle got him off the line and just left him behind like he was sitting still. The guy still owns the Cammaro and talks about that with my uncle all the time that he still cant belive the Bee could beat him every time. My uncles car was stock.

Plymouth10 is the best person to email about A body parts and 340 motors. I would say if you want to know how to build one nasty little 340 He could tell you how.

Now how about the early Hemis I would say good motors along with some really nice cars of the time.

How about the new 5.7L Hemi. I think this could be the mother of all motors soon. Its a 345 C.I. with 345 hp just think of were it might go.
