Good News, I Hope

It is and it isn't. It means that things are moving forward and that there will most likely be a deal with Fiat. It also means that the government will most likely give them the small amount that they are asking for.
It would have been nice to she Chrysler stand without Fiat. Funny how GM is getting well over 6 times what Chrysler is asking for and the government isn't forcing a merger on them. |

What the govt. gave GM & Chrysler was chicken s*** compared to what the crooks at AIG & Citi Group got. I don't see why they would dump all that money into these investment & banking companies with no strings attached & they are making the car companies jump through hoops for the money that will save jobs & keep Americans employed.

Are you forgetting that in a free market, the government shouldnt give any of them ANYTHING?!?!?! Are you also forgetting that the politicians are nothing more than a bunch of crooks, just like the people that run the companies that are getting the "bailout" money? Why does it surprise you? It will all be nationalized before the situation is over.

Maybe if the company's were nationalized, maybe this nation would protect it's assets, you know, like all the other countries do.
The DC merger should have never happened, and the way we've let Japanese and Asian interests destroy our manufacturing base is shameful. |

Yeah right up to the point where the economy collapses and everything thats nationalized collapses right along with it. You arent much of a history buff are ya? Ideally, they should have claimed Ch11 and reorganized on their own, then they wouldnt have to be dependant on ANOTHER foreign company and the unions. If this new plan doesnt work, you can say goodbye to Chrysler for good.

BTW, a breaking news report just came in saying something about Chrysler negotiations breaking down, probably meaning that they will be claiming Ch11 anyway.

I was just at the local Chrysler garage getting the AC recharged on the diesel. It was a surreal moment listening to the report on CNN while standing in the showroom.

You guys dont get what Ch 11 is, do you? Its a type of bankrupsy that will allow them to reorganize their debt, getting rid of some and making deals with other debtors. Its what they should have done in the first place. What I want to know is why CNN is saying that they "need Fiat to stay in business". With them filing Ch 11, they dont NEED Fiat.

With ch 11, they may not need FIAT. However, they will not get the government money, without the FIAT deal.

Yeah, like the Great Depression happening after 4 GOP administrations and this whole debacle with Chrysler and the current economic mess that Obama hopes to repair what happened from 2000 to 2008?
GM almost went under the last time we had a Bush in the White House too. You're not much good at paying attention either, bub. If we lose Chrysler, I just figure it's another body laid on the GOP casualty list. Seriously Swinger, you always come out hard yet you never have anything of substance to say. Now go cry to someone about this post too. |

You are seriously trying to lay Chrysler on the GOP now? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA!
Thats the funniest thing Ive read in my life! You DO realize that the merger with Daimler was done in the Clinton administration days, and THAT is what has lead to their current mess, not the GOP. Its not a political thing. You do also realize that the great depression was caused by many things going wrong all in a row and not the GOP (which was a completely different animal than what is around today), right? You want to talk about companies that have been run by their unions? How did the steel industry do after the unions bought out the companies? Do a little research and tell me what you find, then tell me you think Chrysler is going to do well under union control. My reference to history is that there has not been a socialist or communist country (where you find nationalized business) that has been successful. They have all failed miserably or are basically 3rd world countries, and that is a FACT. You only think that I have nothing of substance because you dont agree with alot of my views. You even sit there and argue with facts. You seem to think that I am someone that supports the GOP no matter what (kind of like how you support the Libs no matter what), but Im not, I stand on various sides of the fence depending on the issue. On many issues I dont agree with either of them. I prefer common sense and personal accountability to either flavor of politics that the GOP and Libs offer. I think you are a good guy Phil, I really do, but your extreme sense of loyalty to one thing or another blinds you from seeing the way things really are, and not just with politics. BTW, I dont "cry" to anyone about these posts, or this board at all. Its not important enough to worry about. I do however frequently laugh about some of the BS that you and others post. |
