Default Al-Wheel-Drive Challenger

What are the thoughts on the new AWD Challenger for 2017? It sounds like it will only be available with the 3.6L V6 and the 8-Speed Automatic, which is similar to how the Charger and 300 have been the last few years.

Offhand, I would question the rationale to try and make a mini SUV out of the Challenger. Perhaps those who live in snow country would show interest, since AWD is great to have in the snow.

It does seem odd to me too but I think it will be well received in certain areas. I live in an area where we have snow on the ground for 4-5 months of the year and 80% of the Charger and 300's on the road are AWD.

Default AWD, It's Not Just For Nasty Weather Anymore

AWD, when done properly can substantially improve vehicle handling in all weather conditions if the driver is adept enough to take advantage of it. VW R32, Audi S4s and A4s are low, powerful and I believe are AWD yet none could be considered an SUV.
