89 Dodge Daytona Shelby 2.5 Turbo
Hi Guys! I'm newbie at this so I could use some sound advice.
I'm looking to pick up a Dodge Daytona Shelby Turbo 2.5 around an 89 vintage or newer (Under 100,000 Miles?). Any advice on what I should watch out for? What are the pros and cons of these cars? Are there major service issues that have to be dealt with at milestone mileages IE 75,000, 100,000+ miles?) other than the normal things that wear out in a car; clutch, brakes, cv joints, etc. I don't mind replacing parts BUT how is parts availablity and pricing? I want to be able to drive something half way dependable during the summer months. Does the engine and drive train hold together reasonable well? Any comments good or bad would be much appreciated thanks!! RTZ |

Look for rust where the firewall meets the floor pan and around where the rear suspension attaches to the body. You can have a great looking car on top that is ready to have the wheels fall off.

If it is the DOHC, 224 HP turbo, there are freeze plugs in the head that need to be checked at the dealer. The factory put in plastic ones, but they leaked, blowing the engine, so make sure they were replaced with the brass/aluminum. :-)PCRMike
