2 years ago I owned 46 Shelby Dodges at one time! Not all of them were turbo cars as I had 3 Shelby Dakotas and a few 83-84 carbed Shelby Chargers.
In the past 2 years I've sold 40 of them, though, and plan to sell 3 or 4 more.

Haven't owned a Shelby yet, but I gave had a couple of Turbo Mopars and I've thought about a 2.5tbi car some for the past few months now.

Currently have Lancer #63, and an '89 LeBaron GTS (rare factory TII/a555 - 264 built). Had an '86 GLHT, but parted it due to major rot.

I just joined this board as I am picking up a '65 Polara

Default Shelby

I had an 88 Daytona Shelby Z. It had t-tops,rear louvers, gray leather, red ext,5spd. I loved that car. Bought it brand new after someone special ordered it, and then didn't want it. Kept it until 91 then sold it.

Would like to get another one, and a GLHS Omni.

Doug

Didn`t own one, but spun out and curbed the FIRST one to hit Charlotte NC

as a Service Director at the Dodge store there...

NO SIDE BITE in those low profile tires !

smashed the wheels and bent the track bar in the back,

had her ready by the end of the day though...

(and it was a SOLD CAR too...)

I thought I would give an update since my last post on this subject was in 2005. I have sold all the Shelbys except for one of the trucks I bought new and a parts truck I recently picked up. I do have 2 '88 LeBaron ragtops, both are T-1 auto cars.
I have gone back to my roots, so to speak, and have a bunch of vintage stuff now. I have some of them on my website;

Since this post I bought another Shelby Dakota but it's just a parts truck. I've sold everything else except for one of the two trucks I bought new.

A 16 year old post, I know.

I had a 84 Shelby, Blue with Silver stripe.

In Georgia/SC running Dead Stock was running 17.02@ 1/4 mile. Broke the 525 with 3.87:1 so under warenty they found a 3.05:1 525. So before with the 3.87's I was going across the finish line in 4th gear, with the 3.05 I ran the same ET but in 3rd at 6500 RPM.
I was in the Military so I shipped the car to Germany and drove it for 4 years on the Autobahn. I did a lot of mods to get it to run fast. I could pull the tach back to 15 MPH in 5th gear.

Also IF I kept it at around 60 MPH and granny shifted it I got a real 41 MPG. Average driving it fairly hard I got 32 MPG.

After I shipped it back to Seattle/Ft Lewis I had to replace a burn exhaust valve so while the head was off I ported it and had the DC larger valves installed. Put a 270 degree LRE Roller cam and roller followers. Made the intake manifold accept a Holley 350. Put the LONG header on and 2.25 pipe all the way out back.

Net effect was a 15.88 1/4 mile all day long.

Drove it for two more years when it went lean going up a long hill and burnt a quarter ($.25) size hole in #3 piston.

Did not have the money to rebuild it and fix all the other minor issues, like the failing Head liner and electrical issues so I gave it to a guy that was going to circle track race it. Never seen it again.

I'd say it was one of the nicest cars I had in the 1980's.

I did have a Shelby Lancer for two weeks and it caught fire and melted into two Toyota Matix's.
