The tin baffle is deceiving. Sometimes it fits easy, sometimes it doesn't. You have to reposition it to get it to sit down. It gets hung up on the head bolts on the manifold side and won't sit down right.

The valve covers will interchange, and baffles should interchange (I've never noticed any difference between them.

As for oil consumption. With the cover off take a close look at the valve guide seals. If a seal is off the guide, that guide is likely "walking" in the head. They tend to drop and push the seal off. With the seal off they use oil.
