Default M1 2bbl intake or headers?

For my truck I'm thinking of getting headers or a M1 2bbl intake. I've heard that on a stock motor, headers are a bit of an overkill. I know the m1 2bbl will take some of my low end but with 4.10s i should be okay. Anyone think I should get:

M1 2bbl intake manifold ($400)

or

Doug Thorley tri-y headers ($420)

Default Headers

go with the Thorleys, basically the same as my MP Headers...

as for them being overkill... it's not a flow issue, yes the headers increase flow, but the engine doesn't have to work to expell the gases, therefore it is a boost in power on any engine. Although I think you'll get more out of the headers than the Intake (as most people who have done the intake already have headers, R/T Cam, etc.), it's not a "what makes more power now" issue, it's what makes more power together that is important. The headers on your stock engine will make more power than the Intake on the stock exhaust, and when you throw the Intake on with the headers, you will open it up just that much more and get better benefits...

I think you would be much more pleased with the M1 2bbl intake manifold because you already have done some exhaust improvements.

Yeah, you guys both make good points. The headers will help the gases flow from the engine smoother and more powerfully than the manifolds, but at the same token I already have a high flow cat and muffler so my exhaust is flowing decent as is. The M1 2bbl will also probably give me more more than the headers.

I've heard both sides of the coin, but perhaps I should do the intake, then the camshaft, and THEN the headers? Does that seem like a logical order?

Thanks again fellas

That sounds logical to me though if you're the same Magnum Monster that made a post about "Stop modding my engine, or keep going?" at another site that talks about Dodges, you might want to check out some posts that might help you out that were posted there.
