old fuel pump died put new fuel pump in turned on key to make pump work and pump will not kick on

Check the fuel pump relay and the ASD relay.Very common failures on these.Just switch one with the other in the fuse box.Most of the relays in these cars are the same number and interchangeable with each other.Just check the number on the top.Hope this helps.
