How can you tell the difference between the 2? Our challenger is manual and a buddy gave me a column out of a challenger. He thinks it is power but isnt sure. I want to switch to ps in ours.

The power column will have a shorter steering shaft due to the longer dimension of the P/S box.

I think it's about an inch or so shorter for the power steering shaft.I measured them a while ago when i was doing the same thing.

I was hoping for a bigger difference. lol Can I measure from the firewall of the installed one and where should the coupling be measured from the uninstalled one? Manual one is in the car.

It would be kinda hard to measure theither one accurately. You can't tell exactly how far the installed one goes into the steering knuckle. It varies sometimes. It's not real hard to remove the column if you have a detailed diagram as in the service manual. If you have the power steering box you can measure how much longer the gear is from it to figure out the shorter the length.

no box just the other column. I could just try to install it and see if it fits. So a power column should come up short on a non power box it seems.

Any updates on how it worked? Or what you had to do to get it to work?
