Default Carb Issues?

As I was making a pass in my car last weekend I got out of shape at about 100 ft out and had to peddle it back into to shape. As I regained control I noticed that the car picked up power as I lifted my foot during the rest of the run. When on the floor it ran good but as I lifted the accelerator say a 1/4 in. the car seemed to pick up speed. Does this mean that the carb is too large or may be too rich, too lean or what? Help as I would like to resolve this issue by the weekend. May be the last race day til next season!!! Wedgehead

Check to make sure the throttle plates are straight up and down at wide open throttle. Adjust if it isn't....

Sounds like low fuel level, low fuel volume......a lean issue at high rpm, fuel curve isn't matching engines requirement.

Default Fuel Volume

I'm running BG 280 on a 416 with a 1050 Dominator. Also running the BG regulator and running 8 lbs of fuel pressure. Also 1/2 in braided fuel line from pump to the reg. Then #6 from reg to carb. Motor runs 6.50's in 1/8 on motor and 6.0's on 175 shot of NOS. Wedgehead

You could still have a fuel curve issue with the carb, the idle circuit could be fine, while the mains don't allow enough fuel at the top end.

I'm going to say thats to much carb for your 416.....

But dont you just love all that bottom end from that 416?

I've used that method to jet my Harley. I find a long straight and accelerate full throttle back off a hair and if it picks up drop down jet size untill that stops. I would try it with yours before changing carbs.

By lifting the throttle you're decreasing the airflow through the carb which it seems to like. Carb too big or jets too lean.
