some some history on the car 1970 dart 360/904 tranmission holley 650 cfm carb.we drove the car out of the shop put a tarp on it with no hood. it has a k&n open top air filter we have had some rain in north carolina.the tarp split. we covered the motor with a tarp .last weekend we check the oil an found water on the the stick. we drained the oil an found 3qt of water in the pan. we flushed it with new oil &change the filter. tried turn the motor over put it would not with the key or with a braker bar. pulled the plugs an turn it over with a stareter button it shot water 30 feet out of the spark holes. we have used marvial mistery oil to clean out the cly now it turn over. now the real problum it will not crank with key iam working from a 1973 chilton motor manual. i have started at ignition box orange pin 1 is good battery voltage pin 2 is good battery voltage pin 3 has no battery voltage .it said to ck the circuit though to the battery. i took the wires off the ballest resitor.i have battery voltage fron the swich to the resistor .i have spark from the coil to the dist.i have no voltage at starter relay when the key is turn th crank position the dist cap are dry. thanks bill

This indicates an open circuit between the ign. switch and the starter relay. Could be the ign. switch, could be the bulkhead connector.
Remember, the relay coil is grounded by the trans. neutral switch. If the trans is in park or neutral, apply 12 volts directly from the battery to the relay coil. This should turn the starter. |

The motor is still good try jumping the solenoid and roll it over a few times. Then spray some oil into the cylinders and roll it over some more to lube the bores. Then when the wires dry out it should start buy the switch.

Yes just roll it over with the plugs out then get some oil into the holes. You need to get some oil on the walls and the water out. Then roll it over some more put the plugs in then try to start it. If you get it started let it idle for a while then rev it up. After the oil has burned out and you should be good to go. Just do not get crazy the first time out you should be able to tell when she is running right.

I think your engine is toast, Apart from your electrical problems, with the water left to lay in the engine your rings & cyl. walls have rusted. the valve stems may have rusted and this could cause a valve or two (or many) to stick open. I would yank the engine & disassemble it, re ring it & check closley for rusted, pitted cyl. walls. It may need a rebore and and for sure a hone job.

Glad to hear you got it running again. Do not beat on it for a while but get it on the highway and just drive it. Once you are satisfied how it runs then drive it like you did. Keep an eye on the oil so it stays where it should. Make sure you keep it covered so this can not happen again.
