Hopefully in the next month or two. Just gotta scrounge up about $140. We usually have fairly dry weather in the winter. I need to talk to MSD again, because their timing adjuster only retards, but I think I can set it up so that when I turn the dial to the left, I will be adding advance. I used to have mopar vacuum advance on a built 440, but it didn't seem too reliable, as far as getting back to 36 degrees total advance immediatley when flooring it. I think it was hanging up or something. I just plan on using this MSD tool when cruising out to the races, then dialing it back.

No, setting valves and other stuff is still good info out of the service manual. The rest is just the way it was. History lesson.

Well, it seems the service manual for 72 Plymouths, which includes my Cuda, has the complete instructions, guidance, and specifications to tear down, rebuild, or adjust every component on my car, not to mention detailed electrical schematics. I highly recommend everyone try to get one for their car. I lucked out and found one in our local classifieds for $15! Its paid for itself a hundred times over!

I'm beginning to think you could use a vac advance that's properly set up for your engine (adjustable unit) but then you'd have to buy another dist.!! I certainly do agree with you re: FSM for the particular year one owns. Like the ad says "Priceless"

Wiring up the Timing Adjust Knob to my 6AL box now! What a pain, my 6AL box is under the dash on the passenger side!

any day now. Had to work out some small things with MSD. Wasn't sure about some of the connectors they supplied. Also trying to coordinate with the weather. But it looks like I can turn the knob to zero, reset my engine timing, and then dial in up to 15 degrees advance when i want to. Which, as I understand it, means better milage, less plug fouling, leas carbon deposits, cleaner oil, and less ring and cylinder wear! I'm all for this beast lasting as long as possible! But, if someone wants to race, I just dial back to zero, and have my 36 degrees total advance. We shall see! I've got all my electrics under the dash. Had already removed the heating system. Even got the starter relay under there. With 12 after market gauges, looks like some serious spaghetti! The price you pay for an uncluttered engine compartment.

I like to monitor everything. Helps to identify problems before they become serious:

Tach
Oil Pressure
Water Temp
Volts
Amps
Vacuum
Gas Gauge
Oil Temp
Tranny Temp
Fuel Pressure

Sorry, I was wrong, make that ten!
One of these days I'll monitor rear diff temp, and maybe an O2 sensor.
