I think this might be an interesting thread, then again I could be wrong, anyhow. My first car, a 1992 Plymouth Acclaim 2.5TBI had just over 190K miles when I sold it (and it's still going at over 220K). My present car, a 1995 Dodge Intrepid ES has 110K miles on it, and yes, it is still kicking arse.
Anyhow, I still see many Shadow/Acclaim/Spirit/K-Cars and LH's like mine on the road, whats the most you've put on a FWD Mopar? |

We get a 95 intrepid taxi cab with 3.3L in the shop every now and then. Last time I saw it it had over 450,000 MILES and was just needing the tranny to be fixed. He said he had changed the wheel bearing, water pump and the alternator, that was it.
The driver seat was definately sacked but it still drove very nice. Can you imagine seeing as it was a taxi as well how much of the mileage was in town driving and idling! ------------------ 70 challenger r/t conv 98 V-10 Q/C SWB 4X4 72 383 swinger |

I had an 86 Reliant that had 240,000 when I got rid of it, the fellow I sold it to drove it to Georgia from West Virginia after that, I have no idea how many miles it has ended up with. My 96 Breeze has 117,000 at this writing and is still going strong as well. I've had several other Mopars from slant six to 440 RB motors, with well over 200K miles on them, and I figure the fwd Mopars are just carrying on the tradition of Chrysler reliablity and long life.

I had a 1991 Plymouth Sundance that reached 189,000 before the engine died.
I got the car from my parents with 132,000. My folks did not keep up on the maintanence and I drove the car pretty hard. It was a base model with no options. Good car. ------------------ F |

My '92 Caravan just turned over 200,000 recently and it runs perfectly. Still uses only 1/2 qt of oil between changes (about 4500 miles usually). At 135,000 miles, I had to have the auto tranny rebuilt. At 165,000 miles, I had to replace the starter. The serpentine belt has been replaced twice. That's about it. We're extremely pleased with it. By the way, it has the 3.3 liter V-6 engine.

Do you mean on the ssmae engine? I put 25K miles on my new 86 daytona, but it took 3 engines and 4 transmissions do go that far.
My wife's 96 Neon is pushing 80k miles, but I rarely drive it. My 89 Voyager has 202k miles on it's turbo engine, but it's been replaced once with a used 2.2 TI (90k). I bought it in January and have put maybe 1000 miles on it, hey for $425 I expect to iron out some problems . Steve |

ow about this a 1981 Dodge Aries 2.2 with 210,000 miles bent the number one rod still ran. Eventually shattered the rod and it still ran. Need a push start though after that and gas mileage was worse than a big block. I replaced the engine and had fun till I dropped the tranny on the highway in 1992. By the way my parents bought the car new in 1981. We had that car a long time.

I put about 85k on my 87 dodge shadow ES. It needed a new head at about 50k, and never ran the same after that.

I drove a 1989 Dakota 2.5 5spd 179K and the last 105K was without a fan motor!!! And primarily on a 60 mile delivery route for the local newspaper! I've had local mechanics call me a liar and I'd take them out and lift the hood and then show them the fan and mounting braket under my spare tire in the bed! RThey'd just scratch their heads and mumble dirty language and walk off...... it NEVER overheated but was always 200-205 degrees. I traded it for a 1996 KIA Spoilage (Sportage) and regretted it totally!!!!

I just rebuilt the 3.0 in my 88 Grand Voyager because of the infamous exhaust guide falling into the heads and burning lots of oil. This was at 180,000 mi. There was no wear in the cylinders or on the crankshaft, everything went back standard. IMHO if it hadn't been for the guides this thing would have run at least 300,000 mi. Back running like a champ now, just put 900 miles on it this weekend.

Well i had a 1993 plymouth sundance duster that i had for maybe close to two years and i just sold it in april. When i got the car, it had 79,000 on it and when i sold it, it had 105k on it and it ran fine. And if you want to talk mileage i have one for ya. One of my Dad's salesman has a 87-88 dodge dakota with close 400k on it and it is still going. I think that is pretty amazing. No major repairs done to it that i can think of and i know it isn't fwd but it still counts.

I've got a friend with an 84-85 plymouth reliant wagon thats got close to 300k. No problems with it at all. And its not like he takes real good care of it either. He drives it like he stole it!
Oh, and another thing, I've seen it go through more mud than a full size 4x4 pickup! |

I have an 1989 plymouth voyager with a 2.5L turbo and an auto trans. I have 230,000 miles on the odometer and still running the original engine. Just replaced the head gasket and noticed that the crosshatching in the cylinders are still visible. Hope to get over the 300K mark.
