Default just want it to run good

Im having a 1968 440 rebuilt for my 1968 gtx. i would like to keep motor stock appearing. we decided to go with a step up cam from isky, hyper tech pistons, this is basicly only change. my machinest is dead set on an aluminum intake and headers. he has talked me into the intake as mine will need a lot of internal cleaning. any opinions?next question is if i do go with an aluminum intake can i still use stock exhaust manifolds? If so does anyone know what the correct stock exhaust manifold numbers are for my aplication? last or should i go with headers? my car has a 4 speed, what header should i go with.

Performer is a stock replacement intake in aluminum, as well as the CH4B, which is a little taller and has better runners. I would go with the HI-PO exhaust manifolds that came on that model, passenger side kinda sweeps up and then down, and the driver side has the last port before the down tube.

On a mostly stock rebuild you won't see a big gain from headers. They are also a big pain in the butt, as far as blowing out gaskets, and making the plugs hard to change.

I'm pretty sure a GTX would have had HP manifolds on it. A set of those would be the way to go. Someone here may have a casting number for them.

You should be able to get a performer or ch4b used for about 100 bucks.

The pic shows the correct manifolds for your car. The numbers are even correct for a 68-69 440 HP. I have a set exactly like those and even in better condition, but you can't have them. lol. Sorry just messing around. I do have the set but I need them for a RR lift off hood car I am doing. Look on e bay for them. The prices vary depending on what condition they are in. Reconditioned ones can gop for 300+, but your basic pick and pull rusty ones might be 100 or so for the pair. A cast iron manifold and the correct Carter AFB carb can also be found on E Bay. Just keep hunting and don't pay to much.
