Question Air Grabber for my 69 road runner

I'm adding the factory air grabber setup to my 69 road runner rag top. Where does the cable pass through the firewall? While i'm driling a hole it should be in the factory location. Thanks

I've been wondering the same thing about my '69 Coronet, that I'm adding an Air Grabber to.

Does anyone know the correct answer to this. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I can tell you where the cable goes on a Coronet R/T using the RamCharger set up. That's AirGrabber to Plymouth folks! But I will have to go out to the garage & look. I'll report back later.

Ed, this will apply to your Coronet, and Harry this probably also applies to your Roadrunner as well. I can't imagine that the road Runner would be in a different location. I looked at my car, an original Coronet R/T that came from the factory with the N96 RamCharger Hood option.

As you face the fire-wall between the ballast resistor & the wiper motor, to the left & below where the voltage regulator sits there should be a hole for the Carb Air cable. Another way of looking at is: the hole should be at 4 o'clock from the lower right corner of the ballast resistor.

Hope this helps you guys.

Thanks also. One last thing. Did the cable use a grommet or was it a small hole the size of the cable? Thanks again.

Harry,

Actually it is a pretty good size hole, bigger than just the cable alone. I believe it should have a grommet but mine no longer has one. I have never bothered to replace it.

Thanks again. Anyone out there have a photo of the location of the hole? It's hard to locate with verbal directions. Looking to do the best job possible. You know how picky some people are at shows.

I feel that as long as mine is near where it should be, then it's alright. It's not like mine came from the factory with that hood. Heck mine was a factory original 318 and now it has a 440. I've also upgraded to electronic ignition. I am building this car for me, not the person that wants to harp on me for not having a cable in the exact spot that it belongs, even though I don't have the N96 option.

You got that right Ed! Build it your way.

I happened to get lucky enough to find a car with several desirable options including the side scoops. The only "showing" of my car is done at the track. Even then I am constantly asked if it is a real R/T, & did it come with those scoops & the Ram Charger hood etc. This often being done in a condescending manner from Mopar people! To those people I just point to the VIN tag & let them figure it out for themselves. What difference does it make anyway? Why should anyone care even if I had built a clone.

When people point out what is not "correct" about my car, I just ask them where is their car & what sort of times is it running. And maybe we'll get a chance to run against each other if they can win a few rounds! Fortunately you don't see too many of the picky-uny types at the track.

Who ever get this car after me can worry about restoring it "correct" if they want to. As for now, I use it for what it was intended.

if you look next to voltage regulator you will see a a spot where drill bit goes . this is what factory had stamped in for that reason.

That area on my car is like Swiss Cheese. A previous owner had installed and removed too much crap in that area. When I bought this car, it even had an AC DELCO relay box in-line with the voltage regulator.

The area that has been described, is currently covered by the electronic ignitions orange box.

I just looked at my '69 Coronet R/T and the cable hole in the firewall is right below the lower left corner of the voltage regulator. The hole looks like it may be about 1/2" diameter.
If you E-Mail me I can E-Mail you a picture.
The problem is that I don't believe my car originally came with the ramcharger setup, there is no N96 code on the fender tag, but it is a 4-speed/Dana60/ track pack car if that matters?

The N96 option was a little rare. Yours most likely came with the power bulge hood, as it was the standard hood for the R/T. I'll just put my cable somewhere in that general area, after I clean up the engine bay a little more.
