Default 318 cylinder heads

So the local track went to Wissota pure stock rules. Which sucks, but now I have to change things around if I want to be legal. I was running '302 heads, but now am limited to 2658234, 2843675, 3769973, 4027163, or 4027593. So which one of these is the better head?

The other rule change that is irritating is the switch to a Holley 4412. They allow 4 barrels for GM and Ford. Used to allow a Thermoquad for Mopar, which was working well for me.

Wissota is anti dodge. So good luck with that. I'm not familiar with any of those numbers.

I get that impression to. Anti-Mopar.

The heads are all early LA stuff. 273-318 up to about 1984.

There are other rules that are stupid too. Like "Stock or stock replacement cast dish pistons only and must be an ashtray style piston. Must be full dish"

All the stock 318 pistons I've seen are flat top, and might have valve reliefs.

Frustrating to have a "pure stock" class and not be able to run stock parts.

Thumbs up

Typical BS look at the seal power 5.2 magnum piston 94-02 can't help on the heads. JC

I may have a pair of those heads… and I have a fresh C&S two barrel at my carb guy's shop. It's been there for two years… I'd sell it for the cost of the fresh rebuild (not sure of the $$$)...

I have a set of 4027163 heads… came off a '78 D250 318/4 barrel. Truck had about 65K on it was an old US Forest Service truck. Had a flat cam. $50.00 if you need 'em.

I also have the four barrel intake off this engine and a two barrel intake off of a roller motor if that helps any.

Thanks for the offer. I actually have a set of those already. They were on this engine when I bought it. I swapped to '302 heads.

I don't know if I'll even switch anything. They don't really tech anyways. Probably don't know what a thermoquad looks like compared to a 4412. Plus I'm just doing it part time for fun, not going for points or anything.

I was running at the ABC raceway in Ashland, Wi. Don't know if I will get around to it this year. Girlfriend wants to do mud runs, so I'm in the process of putting together a truck for her.

My kid's b mod came from Rick Przibilski from Ashland... I ran the Red Clay Classic with my IMCA mod in '85 (IIRC)...
