Default 2.5 Liter 4 Cylinder Question

I installed a re-built 2.5 4 cylinder motor in my 95 Dakota several years ago. The rebuilt motor is originally out of a 91 Dakota. When I installed it I used the 95 valve cover which is a cast aluminum unit. The 91 model used a sheet metal "curtain" over the cam and rocker arms. I couldn't fit it in the 95 valve cover and there was no other "curtain" with the 95. To make a short story long, the engine is using a lot of oil and I think it is being sucked into the PCV system. There are no leaks. My question is if there was a "curtain" used with the 95 engine or was there another way to keep the oil from being drawn into the engine?

The tin baffle is deceiving. Sometimes it fits easy, sometimes it doesn't. You have to reposition it to get it to sit down. It gets hung up on the head bolts on the manifold side and won't sit down right.

The valve covers will interchange, and baffles should interchange (I've never noticed any difference between them.

As for oil consumption. With the cover off take a close look at the valve guide seals. If a seal is off the guide, that guide is likely "walking" in the head. They tend to drop and push the seal off. With the seal off they use oil.

Thank you for the reply JV. I think I will go to the pickandpull and see if I can find a later year motor and pull the curtain out of it to compare them. I will definitely put one in there and also check the valve seals while I am in there. I will post what I find out.

I replaced the 'curtain on the top end of the engine and this has cured the oil usage problem. Thanks for the help JV.
